Hey Shift Workers,

Ten years of struggle have resulted in an "incredible" victory for Canada's migrant care workers, according to the Migrant Rights Network.

The federal government made an announcement on June 3 saying migrant care workers will soon be granted permanent status on arrival, meaning they will become permanent residents instead of temporary foreign workers.

"For decades, migrant workers have been told that our demand for a single tier system with permanent resident status on arrival for all is impossible. But through struggle and perseverance, migrants have won against all odds," a Migrant Rights Network statement reads.

The Migrant Rights Network has compiled a timeline looking at the last 10 years of struggle, noting there is still more work to be done.

Migrant workers are waiting for a regularization program, promised by the Liberal government, that could see all migrant and undocumented workers granted status, not just care workers.

The Migrant Rights Network is urging supporters to sign a letter demanding Justin Trudeau fulfill his promise here.

Cheers,
