
Here’s How to Apply for Our Summer 2024 Labour Reporting Internship

We are hiring one reporter to complete a six-week summer internship specializing in the subject of labour and employment in Canada.
The intern will write 4-5 articles reporting on labour from different angles, including covering union drives, strikes and lockouts, and changes to labour law and employment legislation.
The intern will complete 210 hours of professional practice over 6 weeks at 35 hours/week. Employment start date is Tuesday, July 2, 2024, ending on Monday, August 5, 2024, and the work will be completed remotely.
The intern will also have the opportunity to produce digital media products such as social media graphics and videos, podcasts, and newsletters. Assistance with digital media products is optional based on the intern’s interest and not required for the program.
The internship will also include a series of free professional development workshops covering Canadian labour history, law and politics.
We do not believe in free labour. The successful internship application will be paid $20/hour.
This position is made possible through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Requirements include that applicants be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
