Hey Shift Workers,

Yesterday was the International Trans Day of Visibility, which is a day to celebrate trans people and raise awareness about discrimination.

I spoke to trans advocates across Canada about how workers, unions, and employers can respond to rising anti-trans hate across North America.

Fae Johnstone, Executive Director of 2SLGBTQ+ consulting firm Wisdom2Action, says the labour movement has a huge role to play in building trans inclusive workplaces and holding employers accountable.

“Unions are trans people’s best friends,” Johnstone said. “There is absolutely a crucial role here for labour.”

Learn more about how to build trans-inclusive workplaces here.
