Fort McMurray sales reps file for unionization

The 36 workers are employed by a company that distributes industrial, safety, and fastener products.

Last week, the Alberta Labour Relations Board released a New Applications Report. In the report is a new application for union certification in Alberta.

The application was filed on 12 May 2023 by Local 92 of the Construction and General Workers’ Union.

This union is applying on behalf of all sale service representatives employed with Grainger Canada, at their Suncor location in Fort McMurray.

The Ontario-based employer distributes industrial, safety, and fastener products, and they have locations in the Edmonton area, Grande Prairie, Red Deer, Calgary, and, of course, Fort McMurray.

According to the application, if the union certification is approved, it would apply to roughly 36 workers.

The ALRB has scheduled a hearing for this application to occur on 29 May 2022.

Since the ALRB doesn’t archive their new application reports, here’s a copy of the most recent one.
